Event Description

A New Kind of Race in a Familiar Place.
From the people that brought you the Vineland Grand Prix.

How far can you go in 60 minutes? How about 100?
This race will help you find that answer. Inspired by the 12 and 24 hour challenges of the ultra-running scene, the Crystal Lake Distance Challenge will push you to your limits or help you find new ones. Runners will have either 60 or 100 minutes to do as many of the 1.5 mile loop around Crystal Lake as possible. Unlike the Grand Prix, this event is not free. It is, however, only $8.00 for adults and $5.00 for students 18 and under. Shirts are guaranteed to the first 100 registered.
How does it work?
Everyone will start at the same point and move through the same 1.5 mile loop as many times as possible in their selected time range. You don’t have to run the entire time. In fact, you could walk the whole time if you wanted. There will be a check point at the start/finish base by the pavilion. All participants will have to through this check point and receive their marker for completing another loop. After the 40 minute mark, 2 more check points will open along the course for 60 minute runners only to help measure the distance covered. 100 minute runners will begin to use the additional checkpoints after the 80 minute mark. When the clock stops, your most recent check point marker will decide your official distance completed for the challenge.
Participants do not have to stay on course until their respective times run out. If you know you won’t be able to make it to the next check point before time runs out, or if you just do not want to do any more, you may stop at any time and the most recent check point marker will decide your official distance completed. Water and sports drink will be supplied at the 1.5 mile check point.
