Event Description

In keeping with the recommendations of health experts and local government leaders, the 11th Annual Edwardsville Turkey Trot 5k and Kids Fun Run, hosted by Edwardsville Neighbors will be a Virtual Run. The 2020 Turkey Trot starts Sunday, November 22, and finishes Sunday, November 29. Distances include a 5K and 1/2 Mile Kids Fun Run.

The Edwardsville Turkey Trot has become a family tradition for many, with over 1,500 participants in 2019. We want to help you stay healthy and active with your whole family, and now is a better time than ever to stay connected with others via social media, support local charities, and of course…enjoy a nice active run! While we can’t congregate in groups currently, we hope you’ll join us virtually this year!

Proceeds from the event allow Edwardsville Neighbors, a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, to continue their mission of easing the financial burdens and providing for various needs of District 7 families in a time of crisis.

New to participating in a Virtual Run? Here's how it works:

A Virtual Run is a race in which you can run (or walk, or trot, or gobble) from any location you choose on the paths or roads of your community. You get to run at your own pace and time it yourself. Or, you can sleep in and still get the credit!  Either way, you still get to support Edwardsville Neighbors. Registered participants can complete their chosen distance any time during the period between November 22 and November 29 and will receive the 2020 Turkey Trot swag.

A drive-thru packet pick up will be held on Saturday, November 21 from 8:00 am to 12 Noon, and on Wednesday, November 25 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Weinheimer Opel Law Firm in Edwardsville, IL. More details will be emailed out to all participants prior to the start of the Virtual 5k.

To recap:

• Register for the 5k event or Kids Fun Run (12 and under)
• Download your special Edwardsville Turkey Trot virtual bib. Instructions will be emailed to you after registration.
• Run, Walk, Trot, or Gobble the distance inside on your treadmill, or outside on a course of your choosing.
• Report your time for the event. A special link will be emailed to you after you register.
• Post and share a picture of your run to Facebook or Instagram using #EvilleTurkeyTrot for a chance to gobble up one of our sweet prizes!

What will I get for registering?

• Branded swag (your choice of a long-sleeve race shirt, fleece-lined beanie, or scarf)
• Virtual Race Bib
• Virtual Finishers Certificate
• Finishers medal 

Signup to be a fundraiser!

Those who sign up to be an individual fundraiser AND raise a minimum of $250 will receive a one-of-a-kind event and Edwardsville Neighbors branded embroidered fleece! 

Prizes and Awards

Each registered participant will receive an event finishers medal. Once you complete your run, submit your time in RunSignup. Top runners from each age group category will be specially recognized via social media (make sure you submit a photo during registration).
