Event Description

“But out of that, a new holiday was born. A FESTIVUS FOR THE REST-OF-US.” – Frank Costanza

Welcome, newcomers. The tradition of Festivus begins with the airing of grievances. I got a lot of problems with you people (not really) and now you're gonna hear all about the Festivus for the Rest of Us 5K!

Show your Feats of Strength by celebrating Festivus for the Rest of Us the Epic way... by running a 5K!

This virtual race is a 5K - one kilometer for each of the holiday traditions.

Don't have any idea what we are talking about?  Festivus for the Rest of Us is from "The Strike" which is the 166th episode of the NBC sitcom Seinfeld. Before your run, watch it for the 1st or the 100th time!

Let's Rumble.... oops... we mean.... Let's Run!

1K: Festivus Miracles
 "It's a Festivus miracle!"
The Epic way is to begin your run or walk with gratitude. Do a sun salutation or two before starting, think about what and who you're thankful for, or remember loved ones and keep them in your thoughts for the duration of your 5K.

2K: Airing of Grievances
"I got a lotta problems with you people, and now you're going to hear about it....Let's Rumble!"
The Epic way is to get out there and air your grievances...."I got a lotta problems with the world, and now I'm gonna do something about it!" Let's Run! Allow those running endorphins to kick in and let go of your troubles for a while.

3K: Festivus pole
"I find tinsel distracting." Hence... the unadorned aluminum pole.
When was the last time you ran around a pole?  We say to find one during your run... and run around it, just for fun!

4K: Feats of Strength
"Until you pin me George, Festivus isn't over!"
The Epic way is to sneak in a mini strength workout towards the end of your run/walk with push-ups, squats, calf-raises - whatever works for you!

5K: Festivus dinner (after the completion of the 5K, of course)
And at the Festivus dinner you gather your family around and tell them all the ways they have disappointed you over the past year.
The Epic way is to tell everybody what they have done to please you in the past year and you should eat something that helps your body recover from your 5K such as lean protein and healthy carbohydrates!

“Just remember, when you control the mail, you control… information.” – Newman

Nevertheless... we will mail your packages December 18.
