Race to be Ready™ will have a fast, sanctioned and certified 5K Race Course guaranteed to help runners achieve their personal bests with the backdrop of the snow-capped 10,000-Ft San Jacinto Mountains. We look forward to seeing everyone, even those 4-legged children are welcome. At the Race To Be Ready™, people will see, touch, learn and leave prepared for any emergency.

The City of Rancho Mirage’s Emergency Preparedness Commission is pleased to invite you to the city’s annual marquis event, The Race to be Ready™, is an Emergency Preparedness Expo and a 5K/1K Walk-Run on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Race To Be Ready™ is the winner of the Red Cross Award for Excellence in Disaster Preparedness for 2014.
The Race To Be Ready™ is an event promoting an educational, family oriented community experience to ensure every resident, visitor, HOA, County Club, business and school is fully prepared for future area emergencies in a fun, easy and engaging way.
Our event this year will be held at the Rancho Mirage Library, affording us the opportunity to have additional educational classes and modules indoors as well as outdoors, i.e., First Aid, CPR and fire extinguisher safety and usage. We will have once again the largest exhibition of local, state and national emergency preparedness vehicles rarely seen in a public education forum and their accompanying first responding personnel to demonstrate what they do in emergencies. Last year these included the Quake Trailer simulating an 8.0 earthquake and the Smoke Trailer displaying structure fire prevention and escape strategies. CERT (Citizens Emergency Response Teams), EOCs (Emergency Operation Centers) and R.A.C.E.S. (Ham Radio Operators) will be participants also. Servpro and the American Red Cross will be demonstrating their new smart phone apps and taking signups for free residence and business assessment and preparedness suggestions. Vendors with supplies will help us prepare for any emergency.
