Event Description

The Sri Chinmoy 5K & Half-Marathon feature a scenic, flat and fast 5K loop around historic Flushing Meadows Corona Park.  5K = 1 loop, Half-Marathon = 1x 5K loop + 3x 5.37K loops.

Multiple Covid-19 precautions will be in effect - please see details below.

Free parking, bag check, race shirt, aid stations every 1.5 miles, medals for all finishers.

REGISTRATION & FEES

Through July 3: 5K $30, Half $40
Through July 21: 5K $35, Half $50 (Race shirt guaranteed)
Until registration closes: 5K $40, Half $60

Strictly no race-day registration.  Entries cannot be transferred to another person.

COVID PRECAUTIONS

The following is a list of measures we are taking in order to help protect the health and safety of participants and race personnel.  As the situation is subject to change, this page may be updated.  Please make sure to add ny@srichinmoyraces.org to your address book in order to receive important race updates.

• You must register in advance, there will be no race-day registration.
• In the 14 days prior to the event if you 1) experience COVID-19 symptoms, or 2) test positive for COVID-19, or 3) come in close contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case, you may not attend the event.
• Only registered runners with their race bib pinned to the front of their shirt will be permitted in the race staging area.  Sorry, strictly no guests / spectators.
• Face coverings and physical distancing (min. 6 ft.) are mandatory at all times in the race staging area.
• Face coverings are required during the race when physical distancing is not possible.
• Sealed water bottles will be available at aid stations in lieu of water cups.
• After finishing, please exit the race area as soon as you can.
• If you experience COVID-19 symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 in the 14 days following the event, you must notify us immediately.

THE COURSE

A scenic, mostly flat, accurately measured USATF certified loop starting at the north end of Meadow Lake, passing the iconic World's Fair Unisphere, Fountain of the Planets, Queens Zoo, New York State Pavilion and Queens Museum of Art.  Half-Marathon = 1x 5K loop + 3x  5.37K loop.  View course map >>

RACE PACKETS

All participants will receive a race shirt and bib in the mail in advance of the race, to further limit on-site interactions on race-day. 

The cost of shipping is included in the race registration fee.  You will be notified by email when your package ships, which will be 6 days before the race.  Please help us by registering early, entering a valid U.S. shipping address including apartment number, if applicable, and adding ny@srichinmoyraces.org to your address book to ensure you receive all notifications.

T-Shirt sizes are Unisex: X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large, 2XL
We will try our best to provide shirts for those registered after the cutoff, but no guarantees!

AWARDS

Men’s and Women’s awards categories:

Under 50: Top 3
50 & over: First place

Medals for all finishers

Awards will be mailed to winners after the race (no awards ceremony at the race)

TIME LIMITS

5K:  1 hour.  Half-Marathon: 3hr, 15 min

AGE RESTRICTIONS

5K: 13 and older

Half-Marathon:  16 & older

CANCELLATION POLICY

We live in uncertain times.  If we are forced to cancel this event owing to circumstances beyond our control, including, but not limited to:

• New or modified COVID-19 regulations/restrictions imposed by park officials or city or state governments;
• Unsafe conditions in the park, such severe weather related conditions;

the event will be converted to a virtual one.  Registered participants will still receive race shirts and finisher medals in the mail upon completion of the virtual race, and trophies will be mailed to winners as per the awards breakdown above.

Refunds:  We're sorry, but we cannot issue refunds, credit or deferrals within 30 days of the original event date, as most expenses (such as race shirts, trophies, finisher medals) have been paid for.  If the event is cancelled more than 30 days prior to the original event date, we will contact registered participants with race refund / credit / deferral options.

From race directors to course monitors, all Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team races are staffed by its own volunteers since the Team’s inauguration in 1977 by its founder and fitness advocate, Sri Chinmoy.

Today, the SCMT organizes over 500 races a year in 20 countries across 5 continents, ranging from short kids fun-runs, to marathons to the world’s longest certified road race – the annual Self-Transcendence 3100 mile race (yes, 3,100 miles, it’s not a typo).
