Event Description
Grab your wand, hop on your broom, and join us for the 2nd annual Wizard Run and Artisan Market in Downtown Joplin! Take a magical journey through town with wizardly sights and sounds along the way and a detour through a dark and sinister alley in the last mile! Distances include a 5K and a 1 Mile Fun Run. This 5K course begins and ends at 511 S. Main Street. Main Street will be closed to traffic. Costumes are highly encouraged!
Participants of the 5K will receive a one of kind event shirt in the color of their choice: RED, GREEN, YELLOW, or BLUE *, a spectacular FINISHER MEDAL, a custom WAND, and a FREE BUTTERSCOTCH SODA at the finish line!
Participants of the 1 Mile Fun Run will receive a one of kind event shirt in the color of their choice: RED, GREEN, YELLOW, or BLUE, a wand and a FREE butterscotch soda at the finish line.
The Artisan Market brought to you by Downtown Joplin Alliance: The run/walk will funnel right into the Artisan Market, which will include lots of craft and food vendors, all selling wizardly inspired items. There will be lots of activities for kids as well as a Mimosa Crawl for the adults! Tickets for the Mimosa Crawl can be purchased along with your registration to the Wizard Run. The Artisan Market will continue until 2:00p.m.
Mimosa Crawl details: The Mimosa Crawl will be held from 11am - 4pm in different shops and boutiques in Downtown Joplin. Check-in will be at the Downtown Joplin Alliance booth whereupon check-in, guests will receive a souvenir glass, map, and wristband. This is a self-guided crawl with complimentary mimosas at each shop shown on the map. No purchase necessary. Limited Quantity. Presale tickets are $20 and general tickets on the day of the event are $25. Participants must be 21 years of age or older.
Packet Pick-up:
Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, October 1 at the Joplin Empire Market from 12:00p.m.-7:00p.m. (931 E 4th Street, Joplin, Missouri 64801) as well as on race day at the race start area beginning at 8:00a.m. at a location TBD.
Chip Timing:
Chip timing provided for all registered 5K participants.
Awards:
5 year age category increments! Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female in the 5K. Age category awards will be given for the following age categories: 12 and under, 13-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+

The amazing Bob Brown with Boca Enterprises will be partnering up with the fantastic Resonation to provide an unmatched event atmosphere!
Photographer:
A professional photographer will be at the finish line to capture your finish. All photographs are free to download!
Virtual 5K Option Available!
Runners who can't attend race day can REGISTER for the Virtual 5K. Virtual runners are not eligible for overall or age category awards. Virtual runner directions:
Run your virtual race distance anytime during the month of October.
On or after race day (October 2), post your time result on either the Wizard Run Event page or on your My Activities dashboard on LocalRaces.com.
Our staff will then mail the virtual race packet. Virtual runner packets will include event t-shirt, custom wand, custom finisher medal, and race bib.
FAQ:
1. Are strollers allowed on course?
Yes! Please feel free to take your little one/s along for the run.
2. Is this a pet friendly event?
Absolutely! Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed on the race course.
3. Where should I park?
Main Street from 2nd to 7th will be closed to traffic. Parking is available on Joplin Avenue and Virginia Avenue.
4. Can I walk the race?
Of course! This is a family oriented event with a great mix of walkers and runners.
5. Will the race be cancelled if the weather is bad?
We will run rain or shine, wet or dry! Only in the event of severe weather including lightning will we postpone the start until the weather has passed.
