Event Description

Registration is open for the 17th-annual SEA Blue Prostate Cancer Walk/Run at www.seablueprostatewalk.org. SEA Blue, the largest and longest running prostate cancer event in Chicago, takes place on Sunday, September 26, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Lincoln Park, at the intersection of LaSalle and Stockton on Chicago’s lakefront. This year’s in-person event will help fund the work of Us TOO International (www.ustoo.org), a nonprofit organization which offers educational resources and support services to the prostate cancer community at no charge. Uropartners is the event’s presenting sponsor.

“Last year was a virtual event, so we are so excited to gather in person to raise funds for Support, Education, Advocacy and Awareness -- the S.E.A. in SEA Blue -- for those affected by prostate cancer,” said Terri Likowski, program director for Us TOO International. SEA Blue will be held in accordance with CDC recommendations and Chicago guidelines related to COVID-19. We recommend masks for those that are not vaccinated and suggest keeping a safe, social distance while at the event. Staff will wear masks, monitor and clean surfaces, and provide hand-sanitizing stations. Lunch will be provided in individually wrapped portions.

There is no fee for registration for this year’s event. An option for a $50 registration fee is available for those interested in receiving an event t-shirt. The t-shirt is also available to those that fundraise $50 or more by September 14. In addition to a 5K run and celebration walk, this year’s SEA Blue will include free lunch and snacks and live music. The event is emceed by prostate cancer survivor and former WGN-TV news anchor Steve Sanders.

“September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and there is an urgent need for prostate cancer support, education and advocacy here in Chicagoland and across the country,” said Likowski.  “This year alone, nearly 250,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. Additionally, every 15 minutes a man will die from this disease,” she added.
