Saving Dogs, Helping People, Promoting Kindness
Medical Mutts is a nonprofit organization that trains rescued dogs as service dogs for people with conditions such as diabetes, seizures, or psychiatric conditions. Our service dogs find a permanent home and a chance for a high-quality life. In return, they offer loyalty, independence, and loving assistance to an individual with a disability.
Halo, Scooter, Banjo & Bumpkin are some of the many homeless dogs going through our program. There are over 30 select dogs at our facility, at various stages of training, at any given time. Each dog will require $1,250 in medical fees alone. This does not cover the many months that it will take to train the dogs to become service dogs. With every dog that we train, we bring independence and quality of life to a person with diabetes, seizures, or a psychiatric disorder.
Your registration and fundraising for our annual virtual race will provide our service dog candidates with vital medical treatment and training. In 2020, Medical Mutts provided 18 service dogs to people suffering from diabetes, seizure, psychiatric disorders, and other life-threatening conditions and provided homes to over 60 dogs. This fundraising challenge will include both individuals and teams as they seek to help Medical Mutts reach a goal of raising $12,500 which will allow us to provide medical care to 10 service dog candidates this year.
Join Medical Mutts Virtual Run. Run, walk, bike, or wheel a 5k in your neighborhood, on your treadmill, or wherever you can. Run/walk/wheel with your friends, your coworkers, your mutt, and/or your purebred pooch, and join us in our mission to help those who struggle with a disability and dogs in need of a safe home.

HOW DOES IT WORK/
1. Sign Up
Sign up online and get ready to run, jog and walk as many miles as you can to raise awareness and financial support to save dogs and help people with a disability.
2. Go the Extra Mile
Help raise awareness and financial contributions to support Medical Mutts by raising funds via your individual and Team Fundraising page.
3. Run. Walk. Have Fun.
How far are you willing to run to raise awareness about disabilities such as diabetes, seizures, or psychiatric conditions? How many homeless dogs can you help us train as service dogs so we can provide them with a forever home and a high-quality life? Commit to running (or walking) anytime between October 1st and October 30th. The goal is just to get moving and have fun doing it.
4. Report your mileage & earn badges
Reported miles ran/walked which will be displayed on our “Results” page. You can record your mileage all at one time or in intervals throughout the month.
5. Celebrate your accomplishments
Once you reach your personal goal (or surpass it), print out your Finisher Certificate and share it with us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter using the hashtags #RunfortheMutts or #MedicalMutts.
