Event Description

The Terrapin and The Hare 5K Run/Walk directly supports the many community outreach projects of Rotary of Kent Island.  The Kent Island Rotary Club meets weekly, and funds ongoing needs in Education, Literacy, Homelessness, Hunger, Health and more.  Throughout the year, Rotary, Rotaract - for young professionals, and Interact - Rotary's youth program within the school community, exercises its "service Above Self" motto, building leadership, fellowship, and personal outreach.  All of the proceeds of this annual fundraiser will support the countless good-will outreach recipients: School Back-Pack programs, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, Third Grade Dictionary distribution to all students in QAC Public Schools, Queen Anne's County Library Development, Haven Ministries, to name a few. Internationally, Kent Island Rotary Club and its members also contribute to: Polio eradication, Vision and Lifetime Wells International, and so much more.  Sponsors of this first annual 5K fun-run/walk in the park will be recognized in Rotary 2022 Annual publication: the Great Outdoors Guide, a fundraiser supported by advertising from local businesses, schools, individual professionals, leaders, and philanthropists. The Great Outdoors Guide can be found in stores, QAC Chamber of Commerce, The Chesapeake Heritage Visitors Center, and most waiting rooms and rest areas throughout the county, throughout the year.  You do not have to be a local resident join the run/walk, and this event welcomes all ages and abilities. Chidren under 10 years are free.  Parents are able to purchase t-shirts for added family members on our upcoming on-line store.  For this and sponsorship information, please contact race director, Leslie Sandoz: Leslie@mylogoonit.com.
