DESCRIPTION
We are pleased to announce the running of the 1st Michael Pitney Memorial 5k and Youth Fun Run at Pitney Meadows Community Farm in Saratoga Springs. The Youth and Community races will be held in conjunction with the school invitational at the end of the meet. All proceeds from the races will benefit the trails at Pitney Meadows Community Farm.
The races will be held the afternoon of Saturday, October 9, 2021. The races will be held on the beautiful Pitney Meadows Community Farm, on a mixed surface 5km course. The course will be run entirely on grass and stone dust trail surfaces and spikes are recommended. The course starts with an open field of about 300 meters from the start line to a wide gate, where runners will enter a short grass loop for the first 1km, before running wide stone dust perimeter trails. The 5km course will include a stretch of dirt and grass road, before returning to the stone dust trail for the finishing stretch. There are no road crossings, and the trails are wide and smooth. The course will offer open field viewing of the start and finish areas. The course is primarily flat with some gentle rolling along the trails. The course is spectator friendly, and will offer participants and spectators alike, a laid-back running atmosphere with beautiful scenery, public address, food, and music!
