Event Description

[UPDATE] Thank you all for your overwhelming support! This event is now FULL. T-shirts will be sent out as soon as possible. We are continuing to accept donations for the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition and are grateful for anything you can give.  You will find the DONATE button in the upper left corner of this page.

On May 31, Native Women Running announced a call to action for the 215 Indigenous children found at the Indian Residential School at Kamploops, B.C.  More and more children continue to be found and we must all work together to bring them home and walk this healing road together.

This fall, we are partnering with two indigenous runners--Adam Erasmus and Anita Cardinal--from Edmonton, Alberta.  They are hosting an in-person event in Edmonton, the EVERY CHILD MATTERS RUN/WALK. With their support, Native Women Running is hosting a parallel event--a virtual run--for the National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition. We will run together to bring awareness, support, and honor to the "Every Child Matters" movement with our Native Indigenous relatives in Canada.

How to Participate

  • Sign up! Part of the registration fees will go to The National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition.
  • Wear your "Every Child Matters" shirt or any other orange t-shirt.
  • Choose your distance of 5k or 10k distance - this can be done running or walking.
  • Share a picture via Instagram or Facebook and tell us why you are participating.
  • Use hashtags #nativewomenrunning #everychildmatters
  • Tag us @nativewomenrunning on your post!

We strongly advise and encourage all participants to abide by CDC guidelines regarding distancing, masking, and all other safety precautions.

Race T-shirts
Because we hope to get everyone their t-shirt before the Every Child Matters event, we will be closing registration on September 14, two weeks prior to the virtual run.  We will do our very best to get shirts to you by race day! Because shipping has been unpredictable and in the case you don't get your shirt, please wear orange clothing to show your support.

We will be capping the NWR Every Child Matters virtual run at 300 participants.  If you want to register and find this run already full, we encourage you to support the Ft. Spokane Half Marathon In-person and virtual event. Thank you all for participating and standing in solidarity for every child matters and donating to an organization striving to bring them home.
