The fourth Installment of the Groundhog Day Prediction Race. You predict your time. If you get within the alotted time, you get a free entry into the 2022 race. NO WATCHES OR TIMING DEVICES ALLOWED!
Costume Contest! Dress up as your favorite character from Groundhog Day and you may get a super cool prize!
We even have Groundhog Trophies and Medals! You haven't attended a race like this before and best of all, the course isn't revealed until race morning, so you can't practice on it! Will it be flat? Will it be hilly? You have no idea!
Yes, It's on Sunday, February 6, 2022.
Location: Harmony Masonic Lodge, Beaver Street, Zelienople, PA.
Time, Registration and packet pick-up at 7:00 AM, races start at 8:00 AM.
The 8.88 Mile race, predict your time withing 44 seconds: Starts at 8:00 AM
The 4.44 Mile Race, predict your time within 33 seconds: Starts at 9:30 AM
The 2.22 Mile Race, Predict your time within 22 seconds: Starts at 10:15 AM
Awards after each race.
Before the races start we will have the Groundhog Proclamation and let you know if he saw his shadow. Afterwards, stick around for some great Groundhog day celebrations.
Event details and schedule
Thank you for registering for the 4th annual Get Fit Families sponsored Groundhog Day Prediction Race. Join us on February 6th at the Harmony, Masonic Lodge in Zelienople on Beaver Street for this fun and unique event.
How does it work? You predict your finish time. If you are within 88 seconds of your 8.88 mile time, 44 seconds of your 4.44 mile time or 22 seconds of your 2.22 mile time, you get a free entry into the 2022 race.
What's the catch? You can't wear a watch or use any timing device during the race, this includes, phones, Ipods, MP3 players, Garmins or watches. You can't have a family member tell you what your time is on the course. Your time must reflect how you feel on race day. We will have people watching. If you cheat, you forfeit your free entry into the 2022 race.
Awards to the male and female who get closest to their predicted times. Also to all top 3 age groupers, male and female. The top 3 overall male and female in each race.
To make it a little tougher, the race course will not be revealed until race morning. You won't know if you are running flats, hills, down hill, etc.
Other prizes awarded to those who dress up in the best Groundhog Day costumes. Ned! Ned Ryerson!
What do you get? A blanket, Jenny Lee cinnamon swirl bread, postrace food, The Groundhog Day Proclamation read for everyone that day and fun Groundhog Day celebrations and traditions. Don't miss this really unique and fun race. A race for every person in your family.
Donations can be made to the Zelienople Community Park or to the ALS Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.
