Event Description

MSE Racing is thrilled to carry on the energetic efforts of Steve O'Connor and TriHarder Promotions as we bring you the new LAKE SPRINGFIELD TRIATHLON! 

All of the same, awesome courses!

Stoneman Sprint:
Swim is 500 yards in Lake Springfield at the Lindsay Bridge Boat ramp.
Bike is 12 miles on gently rolling and flat prairie.
Run is 3.1 miles on gently rolling and flat prairie.
Sprint Aquabike: just do the swim and bike! 

Abe's Olympic:
Swim is .9 miles in Lake Springfield at the Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp
Bike is 24.8 miles on gently rolling and flat prairie roads.
Run is 6.2 miles on gently rolling, shaded and flat prairie roads.
Olympic Aquabike: just do the swim and bike! 

Route 66 Half:
Swim is 1.2 miles in Lake Springfield at the Lindsay Bridge Boat Ramp
Bike is 56 miles on gently rolling and flat prairie roads.
Run is 13.1 miles on gently rolling, shaded and flat prairie roads.
Half Aquabike: just do the swim and bike! 

Friday, July 29th and Saturday morning:
Race registration and packet pickup take place at Lake Springfield Beach House (100 or 101 Long Bay Lane. Spfld, 62712, located near Lindsay Bridge, on the south side of Springfield Illinois. The finish line is in front of the Beach House. The race is chip timed.

TRANSITION AREA
The transition area is located at the Lindsay Bridge Boat ramp. Only racers are permitted in the transition area. Team/Relays are racked together.

For 2022 Abe’s Olympic Triathlon is the Illinois State Championship for USA Triathlon Age Group, High School and Clubs. It serves as the qualifier for the USAT National Championships.

Awards for top finishers, male, female, Clydesdale, and Athena

A USAT Official will be at the event and will be enforcing all USAT rules.  It is strongly suggested you visit the USAT website for the complete list of rules and review 

Race Timing and Cut Offs

The race will officially end 8 hours and 30 minutes after the final swimmer enters water. Aid station stops, transitions, etc. will be included in your total elapsed time. The following cut off times apply.

Swim Cut Off – 1 hour and 10 minutes after the final wave start.
Bike Cut Off – 5 hours and 30 minutes after the final wave start.
Run Cut Off – 8 hours and 30 minutes after the final wave start.

Race management reserves the right to remove an athlete from the course and DNF the athlete if course officials determine there is no possibility of an athlete finishing the given discipline (swim, bike, run) before the posted cut off times based on an athlete’s location, time and average speed up to that point.

A USAT Official will be at the event and will be enforcing all USAT rules.  It is strongly suggested you visit the USAT website for the complete list of rules and review the Rules section under the Information tab on our website.

Aid Stations & Medical Staff
Water and HEED will be available at Transition and at the Finish Line.
Medical staff will be on the courses and in the SAG vehicles. Medical staff will be at the Beach House all race long.

Directions from I-55
You must arrive to the site from Exit #94 off Interstate 55. Unless you know the area around Lake Springfield please take exit #94 (Stevenson Drive/East Lake Drive). At the light turn left onto East Lake Drive and proceed 3.6 miles to Lake Park Road. Turn right on this road just before the Zoo and proceed to the Beach House. Parking signs and directions will be in place.
