Event Description

The Arlington Triathlon In Memory of Anne Viviani is a kids-only event.

This event features a pool swim, a closed circuit bike course and a largely track run.

The race is produced by Triathlon Family USA, Inc., the team that manages the Arlington Triathlon Club, Arlington's school-based youth triathlon program, events and camps. The races are intended to encourage children to have fun while participating in physical activities. The swim-bike-run disciplines of triathlon are life-long sports that support a healthy lifestyle from childhood through adulthood.

The Arlington Triathlon Club, now in its 18th year (yes, we took a couple of COVID years mostly off), coaches public school children from elementary grades up to participate in multi-sport events. The club offers USAT certified coaches with specialized training to coach youth & juniors. The race will be produced by a USAT Certified Race Director and officially sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the national governing body for the Olympic sport of triathlon.

In Memory of Anne Viviani

For decades, Anne Viviani was not only Arlington’s most highly-accomplished athlete but one of the best in the world, winning multiple national and world titles. She represented the U.S. in 37 world championships and three times won the long-course world championship. She won multiple triathlon, duathlon, and aquathlon medals and nine national championships in triathlon and duathlon. Anne died tragically on April 9, 2018, while driving home from a race in South Carolina with Donn. A deer struck their vehicle, killing her instantly. Anne and Donn had four children, Anne, Donn, Will, and Tony
