Event Description

This non chipped fun charity 5K run/walk and one mile fun run will generate funds for the Shiawassee County Friends of the Fair Mr. Owosso candidate, Ryan Drake.  The trails at Fortitude will provide a challenge for those that are looking for one and an opportunity to get warmed up for the race season.  Medals for top three in age categories, plus overall female and male and something special for the fun run participants.  Join us the a fun evening to kick off your Memorial Day weekend.  Food truck, cash bar, yard games, raffles, etc.

Who is Ryan Drake???

Ryan was born and raised in Morrice; he graduated from Morrice High School in the class of 2000. After high school Ryan trained to be a Fire Fighter and Paramedic and worked for Perry Area Fire/Rescue from 2002 to 2014. Ryan began working Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes in 2010. He graduated from the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science with a degree in Funeral Directing and Embalming and became a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the spring of 2015.  In January of 2020 he was promoted to General Manager and oversees the daily operations of the business. Ryan resides in Corunna with his wife Kristin (Howard) and their three children: Daylen, Ayden, and Ayla. Ryan and his family are members of the Owosso First Church of the Nazarene, Shiawassee County Pork Producers Association, and the Shiawassee County Agricultural Society. He holds a seat on the Shiawassee County Fair Board of Directors as the treasurer. His family is very involved in our local community; Kristin works as an emergency dispatcher and Daylen is running for State Senate.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys camping with his family, farming, raising livestock, and collecting paperweights and ink pens.
