Event Description

TRI SOMETHING NEW AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE! 
Returning to Stanly County, the Y and Great Clips are proud to present the YMCA KIDS TRI for children ages 3-14. Through this event, participants will have the opportunity to swim, bike, and run while making a difference in the lives of other kids in their community. Every child should have the opportunity to experience a summer filled with fun, excitement, and adventure. Unfortunately many children in our community never get that chance. Participants in the YMCA KIDS TRI will help make this happen! Each child will not only train to complete the adventure of a triathlon but will also raise dollars to Send a Kid to Camp next summer who would not otherwise have that chance.  All funds raised will benefit the Open Doors Scholarship Program for Summer Camp at the Stanly County Family YMCA.

AGE GROUPS AND DISTANCES:                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Ages 3-5 - PreK Division: SWIM - 1 length/25 yards in pool. Participants can wear a US Coastguard Approved Flotation Device. BIKE OR TRIKE - 1 lap around the perimeter of the Y Park. Parents are welcome to walk next to their child. RUN - approximately 100 yard run across the Y Park to the finish. Parents are welcome to run next to their child.  

Ages 6-10 - Elementary Division: SWIM - 2 lengths or 1 lap/50 yards in pool.  BIKE - 2 laps (approximately 2 miles) around the Y.  RUN - approximately 1/2 mile run.

Ages 11-14 - Middle School Division: SWIM - 4 lengths or 2 laps/100 yards in pool.  BIKE - 3 laps (approximately 3 miles) around the Y.  RUN - approximately 1 mile run.
