Event Description

Train with Fleet Feet Knoxville for the Hot to Trot 5k/10k! Whether you're just starting out, wanting to up your mileage, or looking to get faster, we're here to help you reach your goals! We offer a variety of run/walk programs for all levels, aimed to help you keep moving, stay motivated and have fun! Enjoy the accountability with your fellow run program team members and receive coaching and training tips along the way. All programs will meet twice a week for 8 weeks.

  • Q&A Session: Tues Sept 27 at 6:00 pm.  Anyone welcome to stay for group run at 6:30 pm.
  • Gear-Up Week:  Training program participants receive in-store discounts (10% off FW 20% off Apparel & Accessories (excluding electronics) to be used during the week of Sept 26 on any gear needed to get ready to train - from footwear to bras to hydration.
  • Workouts:  2 coached sessions per week (Tue at 6:30 pm and Sat at 8:30 am, starting Sept 29); in addition to the coached sessions, join our running group each Thu at 6:30 pm or Sunday 9:00 am for additional chances to train with a group; Note these sessions are not coached sessions.
  • Good Form Clinic:  Tues Oct 4 at 6:00 PM; Have your running/walking form analyzed for feedback along with drills to improve your form while running.
  • Target Race: Hot to Trot 5k/10k on Thanksgiving Day Nov 24
  • Participants Receive:
    • Detailed weekly training schedule
    • Guidance and encouragement from experienced coaches and supportive mentors

    • Informational clinics about proper running form, hydration, nutrition, etc.

5k Training

Challenge yourself to complete a 5K!  The benefits of exercise are many, with the most important being: improved cardiovascular health, improved bone health, improved mood and better coordination. The program focuses on beginners, but all levels of walkers and runners are welcome. Along the way we’ll be providing you with motivation to keep you moving, guidance and advice, weekly group training runs or walks, and educational clinics on topics such as proper nutrition, choosing the right gear, and avoiding injury. Plus, you’ll have the camaraderie of others just like you. Sign up today to run your first 5K and commit to making a life change.

10k Training

The goal of the 10k training program is to help beginner runners complete their first 10K or intermediate runners achieve their 10K time goal. The training calls for a combination of speed and endurance. That means you'll have tempo/speed runs to help run cadence; longer runs to increase your base; and the all important recovery runs that make you stronger.  You will learn about pacing, basics of heart rate training, track workouts and more.  The program is designed for people currently running or run/walking 20 minutes comfortably.
