Event Description

The Ed Gaw Open Water Challenge has been a long standing community event that raises money for youth aquatic programs in Fernandina Beach, FL. There is always a casual and friendly atmosphere with lots of food, friends, and fun!

This year the race will be organized by the Amelia Island Lifesaving Association and race director Paul Martinez. The city of Fernandina Beach Parks and Recreation Department is a proud partner for this event! Challenge yourself with a 500M, 1 Mile, or 5K course. We welcome the experienced competitive swimmers as well as strong swimmers that are just looking for a fun challenge.

Come share in the fun, and give yourself a great challenge!

Event details and schedule

NO WETSUITS ALLOWED

The 1 mile and the 5K participants need to be at the race site (Main Beach) bright and early!

7am - Beach registration

7:30am - Registered particpants arrive, saftey meeting, and are shuttled to the start of the race.

8:30am - Race start

 

The 500M participants may arrive later.

WETSUITS WILL BE ALLOWED

9:30am - Beach registration

10am - Safety meeting and races begin shortly after
