Event Description

This 8-hour endurance mountain bike race, hosted by Wyoming State Parks and Overland Mountain Bike Club, takes place on the IMBA Epic single track trails at Wyoming’s Curt Gowdy State Park. Racers start at 9:30 am and compete for eight hours on an 15.1 mile loop, in teams or as individuals.  Racers final laps must be completed by 5:30 PM to count. Final laps must be started by 3:30pm. Race Start: 9:30 AM.  Racer check-in and race day registration: 7:30-9:00 AM. Race day registration

The Special Junior Race starts immediately following the start of the main race.  Race distances vary depending on ability: 3.5+ miles (Beginners), 7+ miles (Intermediates), and 15.1 miles (advanced) and take place on sections of the main race course. The start/finish will be located at the Aspen Grove Trailhead parking area, unless conditions require that we relocate the timer's station to a different location.

Entry Fees: (Cost per rider)
$50 solo contestants on-line; $60 day of race (7:30-9:00 AM)
$40 for each team member on-line; $50 day of race (7:30-9:00 AM)

Categories/Age Classes:
Solo Riders: M&F under 35 and 35+
2 and/or 3 Person Teams*: Male, Female, Coed
3 Person Junior Teams*: 13-18 years of age ($15/racer)

Special Junior Race**: (Students between 13 and 18 years of age)
Entry fee is $10.00/Racer: Categories will be delineated by gender (male or female) and by ability (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). Depending on ride numbers, category age classes may also be delineated (Age Classes: 13-14, 15-16, and 17-18).

*If registering as the first member of a team, select "Create a team" on the registration page. You will be asked to enter the team name and you will become the Team Captain.  Once setup, the Team Captain can set a team page password and invite team members to register through their team page. Teammates with passwords can also register directly by selecting "Join a team" and searching for their team name.

**If you are a member of a High School/Middle School or Independent Organization's MTB Team or Club (Team/Club), please have your coach contact the race organizer at st8@overlandmtb.org to learn how to register your Team/Club members as a group. Please do not register your Team/Club under the Junior 3 Person team category. Junior racers may participate in either the “Special Junior Race” or as a Junior team rider, but not both. These races are NOT affiliated with NICA or the Colorado HS Cycling League.

Awards and Prizes: Bragging Rights.

Directions to Curt Gowdy State Park:
From Cheyenne - take I-25 to exit 10 and travel 25 miles west on Highway 210, Happy Jack Road.

From Laramie - take I-80 east to exit 323 and travel east 14 miles on Highway 210, Happy Jack Road.  Follow signs at the main park entrance on south side of Highway 210.

Camping at Curt Gowdy State Park:
Camping at Curt Gowdy State Park Friday and/or Saturday night, sites will be available on a first come, first served basis, as the park reservation system ends on September 15th.  Campers will be subject to regular Curt Gowdy site fees. You may also camp in the upper horse parking lot area (camping locations will be identified by picnic tables) on both nights.  If no sites are available in the park or if prefer to camp outside the park, additional camping is available for no charge at Camp Jack.  The entrance is located west of the Curt Gowdy main and Hynds Lodge entrances, on the north side of Happy Jack Road (the gate appears to be chained, but can be opened via the carabiner on the chain)Drive to the campsites beyond the camp's outhouse building.

Parking & Day Use Fees: All racer will be required to pay the Wyoming State Parks parking, day use, and/or camping fees or have the appropriate State Park permits.
