Event Description

Join Peppermint Ridge this September, Saturday the 16th at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Riverside, CA, as we create awareness and make a difference in the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

Run the River for the Ridge is an annual 1K, 5K and Half Marathon in which Peppermint Ridge comes together with local business and the community for a morning filled with love, happiness, and fitness!

Participants run along a paved path by the Santa Ana River. This run is a low to medium difficulty level, perfect for first timers! 

Top male and female half marathon finishers receive a special gift. Top three men and top three females will receive placement medals. Participants will receive an event medal upon completing the run. All participants receive a Sport-Tek shirt. 

The timed 5K overall male and female finishers receive a special gift. Top three runners in each age division receive a placement medal. Participants will receive an event medal upon completing the run. All participants receive a Sport-Tek shirt. 

All 1k participants receive a Love Run medal upon completing the run.

The half marathon route has been modified due to some construction in progress in the city of Riverside. As of now, the route is as follows:
● Leg 1 – Start and finish will be east to Van Buren Bridge and back. A total of 6 miles. 
● Leg 2 – Start and finish west to park entrance; park entrance to the rear of nursery/western-most path of River Trail; nursery to lower loop; lower loop back to start/finish. A total of 4.4 miles. 
● Leg 3 – Start and finish east to Hidden Valley Park perimeter gate, by Tyler Beach, and back. A total of 2.7 miles.

The route contains multiple loops and is subject to change based on the exact location of anticipated construction by the Van Buren Bridge.
Registration will open at 6:30 a.m. The half marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. and the 5k and 1k will start at 8:00 a.m.

Prices for each race are as follows:

Half Marathon:
Kids 12 and Under - $30
Adults and kids over 12 - $60

5K: 
Kids 12 and Under - $25
Adults and kids over 12 - $40

1K:
Kids 12 and under - $5
Adults and kids over 12 - $10

If you register before August 31st and use the code Earlybird you will receive $5.00 off your price. 

All prices increase $5.00 if you register the day of the event. 

Peppermint Ridge provides residential and support services 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Twenty-five residents have no family in their lives. We want every resident to feel important and know that they are loved. The purpose of the Run is to bring awareness and raise funds to support our mission in providing a community of loving homes and empowering support services for our residents.
