Event Description

Race proceeds will be used to fund development opportunities for Campus Recreation student staff members. Through attending conferences and workshops, the students will be able to bring new ideas back to the campus community and develop valuable connections for their future careers. 

Event details and schedule

Parking

All athletes and spectators will be asked to park in front of Alico Arena in the main lot.  This is located right next to the finish line, race check-in and the post-race party. Please follow campus signs and lot attendants for race day parking.  

Packet Pick-Up

Packet Pick-Up will take place at the Campus Recreation Administrative Modular (CRAM) from 4:30-6:30pm on Friday, April 13 and at the Recreation Outdoor Complex on Saturday, April 14 from 11am-1pm. The CRAM is located next to the FGCU/Lee County Aquatics Center and across the parking lot from Alico Arena on main campus of Florida Gulf Coast University. The Recreation Outdoor Complex is located right outside Alico Arena and packet pick-up will be happening specifically near the outdoor basketball courts.

Water Temperature 

The average water temperature in Lake Como in mid-April is in the mid-70’s. Our race will be wet suit legal regardless of the temperature in the lake.

Friday, April 13

4:30-6:30pm: Packet Pick-Up (Campus Recreation Administrative Modular)

Saturday, April 14

10am: Beginner Triathlete Clinic #1 (Eagle Sprint Triathlon Transition Area)

11am-1pm: Packet Pick-Up (Recreation Outdoor Complex)

Noon: Beginner Triathlete Clinic #2 (Eagle Sprint Triathlon Transition Area)

Sunday, April 15

5:00am: Alico Arena Parking Lot Opens

5:15am: Transition Area Opens

5:15 – 6:40am:  Packet pick-up  (Recreation Outdoor Complex, in front of Alico Arena)

6:45am: Transition Area Closes

7am: Wave 1 starts

7:06am: Wave 2 starts

7:12am: Wave 3 starts

7:50am:  First athlete expected to finish

8am: Post-Race Party Begins

9:15am:  Awards presentation

10am: Course Closes

*Bikes may be removed from the Transition Area once all athletes are on the 5K course.
