Event Description
5K & 1K Kids Fun Run
This will be a fast flat course at Orange Coast College Campus.
Each participant will get:
- a chip timed by ItzAboutTime.com
- a Custom Event T-Shirt
- the option to add a delicious pancake breakfast.
Please consider donating $20 for a new children's book at CHOC Children's Hospital or $100 for a Read+Think+Thrive box for a new cancer diagnoses at CHOC. Click on the "Donate" button on the left sidebar to make a donation.
Parking:
Park in either Lot B or Lot C. Parking is FREE.
Arrival and Check-In:
The registration and check-in tables open at 7:00 AM. People can sign up for the race on-site up until 8:00 AM. Bib pick-up will happen at check-in. There is no advance packet pickup. Registration and check-in tables are located on the circular drive in front of the Moore Theatre. Attached is a simple map of the layout.
Pancake Breakfast:
Kiwanis Club of Irvine will offer the option to purchase an all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast for $4. Only cash will be accepted.
Book Purchases and Donations:
We are trying to build this event as a community book drive in addition to a charity run. As such, on site book donations are welcome and greatly appreciated. Books can be purchased at the event from several authors as well as Scholastic, and all donors that put a new book into the ECBC Book Donation Box (at the ECBC booth) will receive a voucher for a free pancake breakfast. If you would like to donate used books, please bring used books to the donation box at the Kids READ! Booth (Kids READ! Is an Orange County based nonprofit that brings thousands of books each year to kids in need.) CHOC Children’s Hospital can only take brand new books, so please don’t put used books in the ECBC Book Donation Box.
Book Character Costume Contest:
Help us celebrate children’s books by dressing up as your favorite book character! Prizes will be awarded to the best adult and best kid costumes.
Medals:
All participants who are registered for the 1K or the 5K will receive a Finisher Medal upon completion of the race. First, second, and third place medals will also be awarded to the top finishers in each of several age categories. The top five finishers of the winning team will also receive a first place medal.
Timetable of Events:
7:00 am - Registration / Check-In Opens
7:00 - 9:30 - Visit Exhibitor booths
7:30 am - Warm up with Master David Clawson of Pakua
8:00 am - 1K run/walk starts
8:05 am - 5K run starts
9:00 am - End time for runners and walkers on course.
9:05 am - Presentation of medals to winning team, age group winners, and costume contest winners
9:30/10:00 am - Event ends
