Event Description

NOV 16-17, 2019
LAUGHLIN WEEKEND HOSTED BY LAUGHLIN TOURISM COMMISSION
LAUGHLIN EVENTS CENTER, LAUGHLIN NV

Welcome to Laughlin, Nevada! Located 90 miles south of Las Vegas, 230 miles north of Phoenix and 280 miles east of Los Angeles, this venue is conveniently central for our Southwest Spartans.

Laughlin is a diamond in the desert. Sitting by the Colorado River, it’s known for gaming, entertainment, and water recreation. This lively strip in the middle of the desert is prepared for a Spartan invasion with its nine different resorts with nearly 11,000 rooms.

This area is so much more than a family-friendly entertainment attraction. It’s part of the Mojave Desert, the driest desert in North America, growing 2,000 species of plants and home to a protected desert tortoise. While running on course you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking mountain ranges, including Spirit Mountain. Yuman-speaking Native Americans believe Spirit Mountain to be the center of all creation.

The Sprint and Super courses will be a mixture of dusty desert tracks, beautiful mountain views and flat, wide-open spaces. While you won’t encounter elevation gain or mud on this course, you can use this as an opportunity to open up your stride and run wild.

ARRIVAL: BE EARLY
Arrive an hour and a half before your start time. This gives you plenty of time to park, pick up your packet, drop your stuff at bag check, and get warmed up.

Registration opens at 6:30am.

WHAT TO BRING
Your ID
Barcode (print or save your registration barcode to your phone.)
Towel & extra (dry) clothes
Recommended: Headlamp and Camelback

WHAT NOT TO BRING
Outside food and drink (racers, fuel for the race is OK), Negative Attitude

WHAT TO WEAR
We recommend dressing in performance gear (NOT COTTON). Think compression tights or shorts and breathable tops made from water wicking material. Wear comfortable shoes that you’ve trained in, but beware, they are going to get dirty.

In addition to your clothes, consider fuel when planning for race day.

For a Sprint distance you can normally get away with the water stations on course, but for our longer distances (Super, Beast, Ultra) we strongly suggest wearing a hydration pack and carrying energy gels or Clif bars.

We have all you need to gear up for race day at the Spartan Shop.
