Event Description
The America’s Uphill is a longtime Aspen favorite that attracts hundreds of racers each year. The race brings together snowshoers, runners, Nordic skiers, telemark skiers, and Randonee skiers for a 2.5 mile and 3,000’+ vertical climb up Aspen Mountain. Results for the race are according to category of equipment, not just overall. There is also a Team option. $1 of each registration is donated to Mountain Rescue Aspen.

Registration
Pre-registration ($40) is available till 4pm March 9 at the Ute Mountaineer. Online registration (credit card only) available at www.utemountaineer.com till 11pm Mountain time March 8. Please do not fax registrations. Race Day Registration ($50) is available from 6-6:30am at the gondola building ticket office. Cost includes pain, raffle, awards, and t-shirt. $1 of each registration will be donated to Mountain Rescue Aspen.
Gear Options
Open category (traction devices, running shoes, snowshoes, etc)
Track Skis (lightweight skating/classic cross country gear)
Telemark (full metal edged skis with a 3-pin, cable or NTN binding)
Heavy Metal (alpine skis, randonee bindings, plastic boots)
Race Packet & Bib Pickup
Race Packet and bib pick-up will be at the Ute Mountaineer Thursday (3/8/18) during regular store hours (9am-9pm) and Friday (3/9/18) 9am-4pm. You can also pick these up race morning from 6-6:45am in the Gondola Building at the base of Little Nell.
Timing Chip Pickup
Timing chips are MANDATORY and must be picked up race morning from 6-6:45 am in the Gondola Building at the base of Little Nell. You will not get a time if you do not pick up a chip!
Awards/Raffle
The awards ceremony will begin at 9:15am inside the Sundeck Restaurant. Awards will be overall by gender, by team, and by age group and gender in category. There is an extensive raffle.

Results will be available midday after the race at the Ute Mountaineer and at www.utemountaineer.com the following Monday
Course Description
The America’s Uphill begins at the base of Little Nell and climbs 3267 feet up the Aspen Mountain ski area finishing at the Sundeck Restaurant at an elevation of 11,212 feet. The course follows Little Nell to the Bell Mountain Chair and then up Bingo Slot to Spar Gulch. The long steep climb up Spar continues to the base of Ajax Express (Lift 3). From there, there’s a small reprieve on Tortilla Flats before the climb begins again in earnest. At this point, the race follows a maze of trails starting up Deer Park to Pussyfoot, Silverbell, and Easy Chair, finally topping out at the Sundeck. Inspection of the course prior to race day is recommended.
There is one aid station with fluids at the base of Lift 3.
