Event Description
Are you ready for a challenge? The McLean Fire Department will be hosting it's third annual Hero's Challenge 3 mile and 5 mile obstacle course on September 15th 2018. This course will have various obstacles including some that will simulate what a firefighter, police officer or EMT might go through. Can you beat the Hazmat zone? Or how about navigating the mayday section?! There will also be running through the woods, hill ascends, mud and much more! The 3 mile course will have at least 20 obstacles and the 5 mile at least 15! Be sure to bring the whole family for fun and food!
Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 females, males and kids under the age of 15.
Proceeds will go to The McLean Fire Department and to Kaelynne Drsicoll.
Kaelynne Driscoll is a beautiful 10 year old girl with an amazing spirit and infectious smile. She is always going out of her way to help others and make people laugh. Kaelynne loves to be outdoors, playing soccer, riding horses, and running around with her dog Ditch.
On Wednesday, July 6th 2016 she was in a terrible boating accident at Skaneateles Lake. Chris Driscoll, her father, and Kaelynne were struck by a boat while riding on an inner tube. Kaelynne lost her left arm, left leg, and has suffered severe head trauma leaving her in critical condition.
All proceeds will go directly to Kaelynne's medical bills and future accommodations for her.
New this year, we will be naming one mile to Fallen Officer Colin Hayward Toland! And we will be creating an obstacle called the Colin Climb!!!
