Tour Summary:

It’s been called the heartland of New York City, an urban Eden. Local runners call it their home-base for marathon training and weekly races organized by the New York Road Runners. Central Park is a man-made urban park that was designed and constructed from 1858 to 1873 by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux. With 843 acres, the park is the largest and most popular urban park in the United States. Over 25 million people visits the park each year to enjoy its running paths, expansive open fields, ponds, lakes, rolling hills, rambling woods, the zoo, restaurants, Shakespeare in the Park, and much more.

It’s no wonder why the Central Park tour is our most popular, as you are immediately transported from a hectic, crowded city to a beautiful, green, bucolic oasis. You’ll run alongside local runners on paths and drives that will take you pass an endless amount of amazing sites. Graceful bridges, grand monuments, an ancient Egyptian obelisk, a castle on a hilltop, an open-air theater are just some unforgettable things that you will encounter. This running tour and workout will leave you feeling invigorated and wanting to explore even more of what Central Park has to offer.

We will meet by the southwest entrance of Central Park by the USS Maine monument, which is close to the A,C,B,D,1,R,W subway lines. We'll finish at the southeast entrance of the park on E.60th and 5th Avenue.

What to expect

This is a group running tour that will be led by a licensed NYC sightseeing guide who is also a certified running coach. To insure no one is left behind and that all can hear the guide we will run at an easy, conversation pace. We will make periodically stops to view and discuss notable points of interest throughout the tour. You should be able to comfortably run 5 miles for this tour. The duration of the tour is approximately 1 1/2 hours. Although your guide will run with a backpack and can store small items for you such as phones or keys, we recommend bringing very little on the tour. As always, it's important to stay hydrated during a run, so please bring a small bottle of water. We will begin our tour right at the scheduled start time, however if you are running late please be sure to email or phone us no later than 15 minutes prior to the start. Travel to and from our tours is usually fastest via subway, so please bring a MetroCard.
