Event Description

The Footsteps For Families 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is an event hosted by the Leflore County Child Welfare team to raise awareness about child abuse & neglect in our county, to promote the need for foster homes in our area, and to join together as a community to show support for children and families involved with Child Welfare services.  The proceeds raised through this event will assist LeFlore County Child Welfare in providing Christmas gifts for the children, hosting a Christmas skating party, providing clothing, personal hygiene items, school supplies, diapers, formula, and any other needs that our county children may have.  The run/walk will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the CASC oval and the 1 Mile Fun Run will begin at 6:15 p.m. There will be volunteers to run with the children during the Fun Run.  The course is a certified course and we are excited to announce that it will be chip timed this year! 1 - 3 place medals will be provided to each individual age group.  T-shirts and finishers medals will be provided to all pre-registered participants so get signed up by May 14th!  On site registration will be available on race day beginning at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 5:45 p.m. but participants will not be guaranteed a t-shirt or medal.  Hot dogs, chips, and drinks will be provided after the race.  We will not be able to issue refunds for the event so make sure you will be able to attend.  If you pre-register but are unable to attend your t-shirt will not be saved.  In the event of severe weather, the race will be rescheduled for a later date.  If you do not want to run/walk or are unable to but would still like to contribute to our cause you can make a donation to our LeFlore County Foster Care Fund.
