Event Description

Alex’s 5K and Kids' K Run is a fun, family friendly event with a purpose. 100% of the race profits will go to our designated autism based charities.  To date, we have donated over $94,000 to local service providers such as Avondale House (Alex's school) and The Westview School, as well as national organizations dedicated to research and treatment of autism spectrum disorders such as Organization for Autism Research and Autism Speaks.

RACE PURPOSE: The Bayou City Road Runners (BCRR) present the Alex’s Memorial 5K Run/Walk & Kids 1K to honor the life of Alex Jamrich. Alex, the 17 year-old son of Milan Jamrich and Kathi Mahon, died unexpectedly one month short of his 18th birthday on May 15, 2010. Alex was autistic, and his death likely due to complications associated with autism. Alex was Kathi and Milan’s greatest joy, but his autism their greatest challenge. Friends agreed something should be done in honor of Alex’s life, as well as to promote autism awareness and raise money for research and services.

CHARITIES: The proceeds for the Eighth Annual Alex’s 5K Run/Walk & Kids' K will go to non-profit autism based charities.  Our race beneficiaries are Avondale House, the Westview School, and Autism Speaks. REGISTRATION FEES:

5K Registration Fees:

• Early Bird Registration: $25 through September 3, 2018
• Early Registration: $30 from September 4 through October 14, 2018.
• Regular Registration: $35 from October 15 to November 2, 2018.
• Late Registration: $40.00 for those registering race day, November 3, 2018. 

o Registration discount of $3 available to all active HARRA members & PIM participants.  Enter HARRA or PIM at registration checkout to receive this discount.  Only one coupon code can be used per transaction. 

Kids K Fees:

• Standard Registration: $15 for kids registered on or before November 2, 2018. 
• Late Registration: $20.00 for those registering race day, November 3, 2018.

Online registration will close at 6:00 pm on November 2, 2018.

• Race Day Packet Pickup - MacGregor Park: 7:00 - 8:00 AM
• Kid’s K Start: 8:00 am
• Hand-Cycle/Pushrim 5K race start: 8:20 am
• 5K Start: 8:30 am

COURSE:

This USATF Certified 5K (TX18005JH). A very fast, flat course. The course starts and ends in MacGregor Park.  For a map of the course, go to the race website.    

PACKET PICKUP:

Friday November 02, 12-6PM: Fleet Feet Rice Village, 4502 Greenbriar Dr, Houston, TX 77005.  

Race day registration and packet pickup are available from 7-8 am at MacGregor Park.
