Event Description

This specatacular race takes place in the foothills of the Wet Mountain Range and the Pueblo Mountain Park. Expect fields, forest trails, wildlife, and course-- a few hills to get over!  There is free camping the night before, awards, awesome particiapnt t-shirts, a water station contest, a pancake breakfast fundraiser... just to name a few of the cool things that set this race apart from all of the other races out there!  The course has been professionally measured for distance accuracy and is chip timed.

The proceeds from this race will directly support Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center's efforts to bring students from across Souther Colorodo to Pueblo Mountain Park for outdoor-based, experiential nature and science education.

Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center (NWDC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship and population health through nature education, wildlife rehabilitation, adn outdoor recreation. With facilities located in the mountains of Beulah, CO and along the Arkansas River in Pueblo, CO, NWDC provides award winning programming to more than 25,000 students and cares for more than 300 injured birds at our Raptor Rehabilitation Center annually. As school budgets continue to cut experiential education opportunities, our efforts to provide these students with up close and personal experiences with nature are becoming more important. Internal surveys of fifth-grade students from Pueblo that participate in our programs indicate that 80% of these students have never been to the mountains; many of these students can see the mountains from their schoolyard. A portion of the race proceeds will also be set aside for Beulah School of Natural Science students (K-8) to go to NWDC for their programs throughout the school year.
