Event Description

The Run for Africa is the premier annual athletic event, to grow communities around health and wellness, and raise support for the Liberia Institute for Girls, in Todee Liberia. Everyone is going to be there from all around Philadelphia -- people gathering from every race, history, and color, around a culture that celebrates health, wellness, building hope for people who are destitute in far parts of the world.

The run is a casual fun event. The point is to do this together, meet friends, and be healthy. Dress to have fun, and meet people. The weather looks like it will be good and comfortable for a run.

You don't want to miss the world being changed, and doing it together. Come join us!

The run is dedicated to promoting the Liberian Institute for Girls. What's that? The Liberian Institute for Girls, in Todee Liberia, is an leading K-16 educational institution around STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) for underprivileged girls and young women of Liberia. As tiny West African nation of about four millions founded by freed African Americans in the 1800, Liberia is emerging from a 14-year brutal civil war (1989-2003), a deadly Ebola Virus Outbreak (2014-2015), and a history of sexual abuse and marginalization of underaged girls and young women. The Liberia Institute for Girls project is aimed at providing a protective culture and a nourishing environment for Liberian girls and young women, giving them the space to be girls, lift their spirits to thrive without fear of harassment, prepare them for high-demand careers, and build the leadership skills they need to become self-reliant and productive citizens.
