Event Description
It's time to register for the 6th Annual Heroes for Hope 5K Run/Walk, Kids Marathon, and 1 Mile Walk of Valor. Join us and help celebrate Childhood Cancer Awareness Month!! This year we are excited to announce that our race will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Heroes for Hope. This year we will hold the race at Acme Brick - 3024 Acme Brick Plaza, Fort Worth, TX 76109.
We will have 3 events this year. We will have Fort Worth's first Kids Marathon!! This is a great introduction to fitness and running for our kiddos. We will provide an 8 and 12 week training program they can follow at their own pace and parents can keep track of their progress on our mileage tracker. Our plans will guide your child through all but one mile of their full marathon (26.2 miles). They will complete their last mile with us on race day and receive a race t-shirt, finisher's medal, and BBQ lunch. Kids that just want to run the 1 mile fun run on race day, do not need to register. The Kids Marathon begins at 7:40am.
We will have a 1 Mile Walk of Valor that begins at 7:45am. This is simply a 1 mile walk to honor and remember our service members and the commitment they have made. Join us for this patriotic show of appreciation. Registration includes race t-shirt, BBQ lunch and awesome craft beer (21+).
Our 5K Run/Walk will begin at 8:00am. Come give us your best and set a new PR or push yourself to complete your first 5K. There will be plenty of energy and excitement on the course! Come out and help us honor our little HEROES who are in the fight of their lives!
All levels are welcome! If you can run, walk, or crawl this is your race! We will have free craft beer (21+), free BBQ, free fresh fruit, SUPERHEROES and PRINCESSES, free massages, a contest for largest team and largest HERO team, a kids fun zone, and an awesome vendor village (bring extra money for all the cool stuff!). We will have awards for Overall Male and Female, Overall Masters Male and Female, and traditional 5 year age group awards. We will also have an awards category for 8-9 and 10-12 year olds. Our 2018 Ambassadors of Hope are Natalie Wynn and Saxton Swope. Natalie was diagnosed at age 11 with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and ALL Leukemia. Saxton was diagnosed at age 11 with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. They are both now 13 and and were able to return to school this year. They will design this year's medals!! Are you running in honor/in memory of someone? Have their name listed on the back of this year's shirt. Camp Gladiator will lead a fun pre-race warmup. Cox Racing Services will provide chip timing. Come check out the coolest race of the year!!
Event details and schedule
The day will start at 6:30am for race day packet pickup and registration. We will have the Kids Marathon and 1 mile fun run (12 & under) starting at 7:40am, the 1 Mile Walk of Valor at 7:45am, and the 5K will start at 8:00am. We will play the National Anthem before the start of the 5K and have a balloon release as the 5K starts to honor our "Heroes in Heaven". The course will run along the Trinity River with water stops near miles 1 and 2. We will have water and gatorade at the water stops. Join us for the coolest race of the year.
