Event Description

Join FreeWalkers and the East Coast Greenway Alliance on our first organized walk along the newly connected Greenway route over the Christina River. Enjoy the fleeting fall foliage along the Brandywine, the view from Rockford Tower, the wildlife along the Christina, the history of New Castle. Finish with a wide selection of locally sourced dinner options and find other treasures at the colorful New Castle Farmers Market.

Paved off-road and riverside trails and urban sidewalks. Flat terrain. Easy access via DART bus, Septa, Amtrak and Greyhound, with the walk starting just a half block from Wilmington Station. Return buses to Wilmington Station depart from the Farmers Market every thirty minutes. The first seven miles is a loop through Wilmington returning to the station. Free weekend parking available at the start.
