Event Description

4 Paws for Ability enriches the lives of children with disabilities by training and placing quality, task-trained service dogs. This provides increased independence for the children, and assistance to their families.

A special fundraising effort has been launched to be able to place a mobility dog with Isaiah. Isaiah is a spunky & sweet 6 year old that lives in Springboro, OH with his Mom, Dad, and 3 siblings. They are a military family and have moved to a new area every few years. Isaiah has Autism, a disorder that results in severe anxiety, panic attacks, and behavior issues, which makes the moves more difficult for Isaiah. Isaiah's dog will be trained to help him perform daily tasks that we take for granted. To help reduce Isaiah's anxiety, the service dog will be taught several techniques to comfort him in overwhelming situations and disrupt unwanted behavior. Isaiah's dog will also be trained to track his individual scent, so if Isaiah wonders away, his furry friend can find him before he unintentionally put himself in danger.

You will have from September 1st to September 30th to log 26.2 or 13.1 miles. You can complete the distance all at once or work on it a little at a time. When complete, e-mail the race director. Every finisher will receive a medal.

Proceeds from every entry will benefit Isaiah and the training of their assistance dog.
