Event Description
Let's celebrate the new school year with our first ever fun run/walk! Join the DVMS Community for a fun-filled family event with all proceeds benefiting DVMS! We'll run/walk the reservoir with friends and family and finish the morning with music and play. We've also partnered with SaveOurMonarchs.org to provide you with the ability to help our butterflies! First 100 kids registered will receive a packet of milkweed seeds to plant at home.
Start & Finish Line: Upper Lawn, Lafayette Reservoir. (If you're facing the Reservoir, head up on the RIGHT side. Do NOT go towards the playground/stage area.) You'll be running along the paved Shore Trail of the Lafayette Reservoir.
Start Time: Officially, the race will begin at 8:30 am, but we know how things go trying to herd the family out the door on a Sunday morning. Don't fret. The race will be timed by an official. Report in when you start and finish and your overall time will be recorded.
Race Categories: A little friendly competition never hurt anyone! Here are the race categories:
- Fastest Mom
- Fastest Dad
- Fastest Teacher
- Most Pregnant Finisher
- Fastest Stroller
- Youngest Walk/Run Finisher (Honor System: Pinky swear that they will not be held or pushed in a stroller.)
- Best butterfly costume
Obstacle Course will open at 10am and we'll start with the older children so they can show the little ones how it's done!
POST RACE: After the race, there will be music, crafts and play time. Plan for a morning at the park!
Food & Drink: Post race snacks will be provided (bagels, cookies, fruit, snacks, water, juice), but if you plan on staying for a picnic lunch, BYOLunch.
