Event Description
The annual NAMI Lehigh Valley 5K Race & Walk for Mental Illness will occur on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at 5450 Liberto Lane, Bethlehem, PA 18017 (This is not Bicentennial Park in Allentown!). The race course is the same as last year's, all paved, on the road and on the trails.
Race Prizes: Prizes for first place female and male runners and for top runners in each age bracket, female and male: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and above. Winners also receive the area's only EDIBLE medals from Custom Cookies by Elizabeth!
Free stuff for all: Participants receive T-shirts (till they last) and tickets for a basket raffle; bagels, fruit, and coffee before and after the race; and hot dogs (regular and vegetarian options) & chips afterward. Enjoy live music and a playground and grassy area for children.No strollers, bikes, or runners under age 14 for the race because it will be run on a road with traffic, but they are welcome for the Walk.
If you wish for your registration fee to benefit the Vivek Ananthan Youth Initiative, please state this in a note to the Race Director using the "Race Contact Info" button.
Walkers have a separate, shorter course for their non-competitive walk on a paved path in the park. Walkers register online as well. Participants receive tickets for a basket raffle. The walk is free; a $5 donation is appreciated to help cover the cost of the T-shirt.
Individual participant fundraising is not required, but it is appreciated. We hope to raise even more than we did last year.
Registration fees and donations stay in the Lehigh Valley to improve the quality of life for people affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy.
