Event Description

Work up an unforgettable Thanksgiving appetite with a European-style 5K around Reid Park.  Separate men’s and women’s events create a fun opportunity to cheer on friends and family as they hurdle hay bales and water jumps.  A team division is available.  Great prizes include “turkeys” and pumpkin pies!

The 5K races are part of the The Running Shop Grand Prix, produced by SAR.

Event Schedule: 8:00 AM Open Women's 5K; 8:45 AM Open Men's 5K; 9:30 AM Co-Ed 1.5 M Fun Run.

This fun European style course over grass and dirt also includes hay-bales and water-jumps. The 5K has separate races for men and women and is a multi-loop course for spectator viewing. The 1.5 mile fun run is co-ed. There is ample parking in the lot parallel to 22nd St off of Lakeshore Drive as well as off of Country Club on S Picnic Pl.

Quality cotton tee shirts will be given to each registered participant. Women's, men's and youth sizes are offered.

Awards: Overall Male and Female winners and Master's Male and Female winners will receive a trophy and a pair of Brooks running shoes from The Running Shop. Age groups are 10 and under, 11-13, 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 5 year divisions through age 79, and 80 and over. First place age group awards include a trophy and a "turkey." Second place age group winners receive a medal and a pie. Third place winners receive a medal.

Break the course record and win money! $50 is donated each year for men and for women. If the record isn't broken, the prize money rolls over to the next year. This year's course record pots are $350 for Women and $450 for Men. Women's course record is held by Tara Erdmann, set in 2011, at 17:08.2. Men's course record of 14:54.1, set in 2009, is held by Craig Curley.

Packet pick up is at The Running Shop, 3055 N Campbell Ave #153, Tucson, AZ 85719 on Saturday November 17 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday November 19-21 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM or at the race site beginning at 7:00 AM. If you register online from 11/17 - 11/20, your packet will be ready for pick up the following day. We encourage you to pick up your packet at your earliest convenience, before we run low in shirt sizes.

Team division: The top 4 times of each team of up to 7 team members will be totaled for the best team times. No co-ed teams allowed. The top two men's teams and top two women's teams will win awards. Teams and team members must be registered by Tuesday, November 20, 6:00 pm. No team members may sign up race day. No teams may be formed on race day.
