Malverne 5K Run-Walk, October 21, 2018
ALERT FOR 2018: Due to the construction the finish is relocated to Pershing Blvd.
The Malverne 5K run-walk for education, organized by the Malverne Educational and Fitness Foundation (MEFF) takes place on October 21th. The net proceeds of the 5K run go to the MEFF, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization supporting youth programs in the Malverne school district. The packet pickup and day-of-run registration take place at the Malverne high school at 7:45 a.m. (school located east of Ocean Ave.).
The main event, 5K run, is preceded by a fun run (300 meters) for kids of age 10 and under. The start of the kids run is at the intersection of Wicks Ln and N. Cambridge St. Kids (and their parents) run opposite the 5K course toward the start of the 5K run. The fun run starts at 8:30.
The Malverne 5K run and walk starts at 9:00 at Wicks Lane next to the H.T. Herber middle school gym (75 Ocean Ave). The 5K course is winding through the streets of Malverne, Lynbrook, and Lakeview. (Click the thumbnail to enlarge the picture). The finish is at Pershing Blvd. Parking is available at the HS parking lot and adjacent streets. Please, do not park on Wicks Lane, the start location and course direction!
Registration and Fee
Registration is open (online and mail-in). Students up to age 18 pay $5 (displayed at the checkout) + processing fee. Adults (age 19 and up) pay $20 + processing fees. After online registration closes (October 20), the fee increases to $25 (day-of-race registration). Student fee remains the same, $5. The online registration closes on October 20.

Mail-in registration fee is $20, $5 youth. Make checks payable to MEFF.
Awards
Fun run:
Each participant gets a medal.
5K run:
Top 3 males/females overall;
Age groups: male/female 11 and under, 12–14, 15–19, and then every 5 years up to age 89, master (40+), senior master (60+).
