This FREE self-supported and self-navigated drop bar backcountry adventure ride gives you a buffet serving of the numerous dirt/gravel roads that Eagle, CO and the surrounding backcountry have to offer. Bring your sense of adventure, as this ride is demanding on all levels. Riders can plan for a 5+ hour day on a 69-mile route that is 90% US Forest Service roads, 10% questionable rocky jeep road, numerous long steep climbs, water crossings, a hike-a-bike, a few white-knuckle descents, likely a run in with a cow or bear (bear sighted on course on 9/8), and numerous fast flowy descents that'll make your cheeks hurt you're smiling so hard! The views will be HUGE and the trees at their peak fall colors!  Ideal and suggest bike is a CX or Gravel bike with a minimum of 40c tires. A hardtail mtb will also work. There are pros and cons to each style of bike on this route!

This is a group fun ride. There is no cost to participate. You are self supported and self-navigated.

This ride is fully UNSUPPORTED and you will need to be SELF-SUFFICIENT in order to complete the route. We cannot say this enough, YOU are responsible for YOU. Plan on carrying everything you need to get from the start to the finish. A water filter is highly suggested, unless you want to carry all your water with you. At a minimum carry 100 oz of water. There are NO SERVICES on route! There is also NO CELL SERVICE on route!

The route will NOT be marked. With that said, MOST of the roads in Eagle are signed or labeled. Be ready to self-navigate. A GPS is highly advised. Do yourself a favor and upload the GPX or TCX to your favorite navigational device.

Riders are encouraged to ride as little or as much of the route as they feel comfortable with. There are various bail out points to get back to Eagle...should you choose you bit off a little more than you could chew.

Ideal bike for the Humper Mixed-Terrain is a cx/gravel bike with a minimum of 40c tires or a hardtail mtb with 1.95-2.2 tires. Tubeless is highly recommended. We also suggest carrying 2-3 spare tubes, patch kit, CO2 and pump, and a rain jacket.

A ROAD BIKE, ROAD SHOES AND ROAD PEDALS ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR THIS COURSE!!

Pack it in. Pack it out. Don't litter in the backcountry!

While not a race, some riders may choose to "ride fast." This is 100% up to you.

No more than 75 people allowed for this ride. This is intended to be non-commercial and is a recreational-use activity that is held on parts of USFS lands in compliance with USFS Special Use Rules and Regulations.

This is NOT a closed route. Other trail users, including cyclists, hikers, equestrian, and the motorized community may be encountered at any time. Please show respect and be nice out there.
