Panting for Paws

Last year was a blast as we celebrated 11 years with the community...running, walking, and even panting! We hope you will join us this year and are excited to announce that the race will be on a Saturday this year - November 10, 2018!! New date, but same location and times!

Advance registration is $35 for 5K and $20 for 1 Mile. All ages and fitness levels are encouraged and welcome as you can run or walk in both events. The race course for the 5K is CARA certified and professionally timed.

Medals will be awarded to top male and female finisher overall, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age group.

14 & under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-70, 70-79, 80 & over

Each registration includes:

• Panting for Paws long sleeve performance shirt

• The first 150 registered for the 5K will receive a limited edition Helping Paws beanie hat

• Swag bag with human and dog goodies

• FREE post-race hot dogs lunch, beer (for 21+), snacks and other refreshments

Online registration is open until November 7, 2018

If you cannot participate on the day of this event, we invite you to register for the Virtual 5K or make a general donation to help us save more animals and help give them a second chance. 

Packet Pickup

Thursday, November 8 | 3:00-7:00 pm at Helping Paws Animal Shelter, 2500 Harding Lane, Woodstock

Friday, November 9 | 1:00-4:00 pm at Helping Paws Animal Shelter, 2500 Harding Lane, Woodstock

Saturday, November 10 | 7:00 to 8:30 am at Lippold Park Concession Building, Crystal Lake

We will accommodate those of you who want to have a friend pick up your race packet for you. Your friend will be required to initial/sign indicating they are picking up for you. ALL PARTICIPANTS must have a signed waiver before the start of the 5K and 1 Mile events. We will have copies of waivers to sign. Minors under 18 years of age, must have a parent or guardian sign a waiver on their behalf.

Check-In

Race day registration and check-in for all participants will open at 7:00 am and close at 8:30am in the Pavilion.

Race day registration will be $40 for 5K and $25 for 1 Mile.

Event Start

1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk | 8:30 am 

NOTE: Strollers and dogs ARE allowed on the course. Please see information below regarding dogs participation. This event is not "timed", but we require everyone to be off the course within 30 minutes. 

5K | 9:00 am

NOTE: Due to the size of the 5K race and safety of all participants, strollers and dogs ARE NOT allowed on the course. 

Important Information for Participating Dogs

Well-behaved and socialized dogs who are 6 months and older and people- and dog-friendly are welcome to participate in the 1 Mile Family Run/Walk. IMPORTANT: Dogs must be on leash at all times and have rabies tags on their collar the day of the event. No retractable leashes or leashes longer than 6 feet. Pet owners must take full responsibility for the behavior of their pet and are also responsible for cleaning up after their dog(s) at all times. Disposable waste bags will be available at the event. We also reserve the right to refuse entry or request that a dog be removed from the course if we feel it might prove hazardous to others or whose physical condition appears to be compromised.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 this year!

100% of all net proceeds going to benefit the animals in our care. Helping Paws' mission for 49 years has been to provide shelter, food, medical care and comfort to the animals in our care until they are placed into loving, responsible homes.
