Event Description

The 6th edition of the Scranton Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, April 7th, 2019, beginning and ending in Valor Credit Union Field at Memorial Stadium. The goal of the race is to provide a superior event highlighting the local area and in doing so, bring increased exposure and revenue for local businesses. Proceeds from the 2019 event will benefit the continued development of the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail.

NEW FOR 2019

Half Marathon Walk! 

That's right, now you have the opportunity to join in all the fun with the new Walk Event.  Here's the details:

  • Begins at 7:45am.
  • Fully chip timed.
  • Finishers receive Half Marathon Medal and Finisher's Gift.
  • Awards to the Overall Male and Overall Female finishers.
  • Aid stations for the walk begin with the mile 7.5 station.  
  • This is a walk only, and participants are not permitted to engage in running during the event if registered for the walk.
  • ***Walkers must stay on the sidewalks until the lead police vehicle comes by at which point the course will be fully secure***
  • Please note that due to course safety restrictions, the Doherty Double is not walk friendly.

 

Race Dates: Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7, 2019

Times:  1/4 Mile Kid's Run: 2:30 PM (Saturday, April 6)

              5K: 3:00 PM (Saturday, April 6)

              Half Marathon Walk: 7:45 AM (Sunday, April 7)

              Half Marathon: 9:00 AM (Sunday, April 7)

              1/2 Mile Kid's Run: 9:30 AM (Sunday, April 7)

*The Doherty Double consists of both the 5K on Saturday, April 6, and the Half Marathon on Sunday, April 7

Bib/Shirt Pickup: Friday, April 5 at the Race Expo from 6 to 9 PM. Also, on Saturday, April 6 from 11 AM to 5 PM.

Charitable Giving: The Scranton Half Marathon has given over $300,000 in it's first five years to the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Authority for the beautification and safety of the city of Scranton.
