Event Description

Get your gobble on and get ready to earn your turkey dinner at the 6th Annual Big Bear Turkey Trot. This 3, 6 or 9-mile family-friendly run is held on Thanksgiving morning in the beautiful mountains of southern California in Big Bear Lake. A fun and festive venue, with three distance options on the same course, make it easy for everybody to participate. Come ready to have fun and dressed in your best turkey, bear, or autumn costume. The Turkey Trot has prizes for the best participant costumes and the fastest runners; awards include turkeys, cupcakes and freshly made local pies.

The Big Bear Turkey Trot is the signature event for Open Air Big Bear, an organization supporting non-motorized outdoor athletic events in the Big Bear Valley. In recognition that while many feast, others go hungry, proceeds from the Turkey Trot also support local food banks.

Early bird registration and local resident discounts end on November 14th so be sure to sign up soon. Kids in strollers are welcome and children under age 5 are free with parental waiver*. The first 400 participants to register will receive an event shirt and instead of medals runners also receive a commemorative ornament.

Three-mile runners are treated to a yoga warm up routine from Colin Schour Yoga before the start of their race.

Prices go up on Nov. 15 and again on Nov. 21. Additional details and links to register are all available at www.BigBearTurkeyTrot.com

*Unpaid participants under age 5 do not receive bibs, shirts, ornaments, or timing chips but we must have  signed waiver from their parent or guardian.
