Dirt Days Trail Series - Mt. Airy Ridge Run

Mt. Airy Ridge Run is a perennial favorite. This is the largest park in the city and features extensive trails. 

Mt. Airy Forest is, in fact, is one of the larger parks located within a city's limits in the country. Even Central Park can only boast 843 acres, while Mt. Airy holds a massive 1,469.9 acres. The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run is aptly named, as the runners will get a wilderness experience that mirrors the Sierras at times. The course winds through all of the features Mt. Airy has to offer, such as its lush evergreens, dense hardwoods, open meadows, flowing rivers, and of course, hill climbs and ridge traverses.

The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6) miles that will begin at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles) that will start at 9:15 a.m.

This is the third leg of the 2019 Dirt Days Trail Series. Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.

Mt. Airy Ridge Run Update: We have added a "Trekker" category for those who would like to do the 10+ mile course but need extra time to finish. If you think that you need more than 2-2.5 hours to finish, we encourage you to consider the this option. You can start at 8:00 or after instead of nine. You will receive a time and credit for participation. Also, you can finish before all the food is gone!

The Course:

The Mt. Airy Forest Ridge Run will have TWO separate races over different distances. There will be a two lap race (10.6) miles that will begin at 9:00 a.m. There will also be a one lap race (5.4 miles). See the attached course map.The direction was reversed a few years back. The current configuration will be a counter-clockwise loop.Each event will be scored separately and both events will count toward the Series points.

Individual Event Awards:

The overall top male and overall top female will receive a special award

age-graded awards

randomly drawn door prizes.

You must be present to win any random drawing and you cannot accept for someone else, so stick around!

T-Shirts:

Dirt Day Trail series Tech shirts will also be available for purchase both online and at the race. These shirts are being sold by Fleet Feet and are $15 each while supplies last.

Amenities:

We will have a variety of treats for you. 

Registration Fee:

Registration Fee: $15 Pre-registration per race. Late registration, when offered, will be $17. It was determined that not enough folks were pre-registering so the race day fee was raised to $20 to "encourage" pre-registration.

Register online through Thursday, May 17, 2019. Late online registration will be available through Saturday May 18, 2019

Register by mail by printing and mailing a paper registration form. Postmark by Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Register on Race day from 7:30 am through 8:45 am. Race begins at 9:00.

Race Day Registration and pick up:

There is no early packet pick up for this event. Check in on day of race is from 7:30 am through 8:45 am.
