Event Description

The 7th Annual Michael McCaffrey Hope Challenge 5k, to be held March 30, 2019, is a non-profit 5K Road Race/Fun Run to support the Dana Farber Cancer Institute benefiting the Claudia Adams Barr Program for Innovative Basic Cancer Research. 100% of all profits collected go directly to Dana Farber. Our hope is to fund the researcher holding the test tube or slide that bears a life-saving breakthrough in the battle against all forms of cancer.

Michael McCaffrey, a long-time Sutton resident, Naval officer, engineering professional, devoted father to son and daughter, and loving husband, fought a remarkably courageous battle against bladder cancer for over a year. While he lost his battle against cancer, his courageous spirit endures and has inspired almost all who knew him - especially his son and daughter who will run this year's Boston Marathon as part of the Dana Farber Marathon Challenge Team. Mike's favorite wisdom, "A ship is safe in harbor, but that's not what ships are for...." is the inspiration for the McCaffrey Hope Team. With open arms, we welcome generous teammates of the heart.
