Event Description

The The Deacon Chuck Dietsch Memorial 5K Run for Haiti is a mostly flat, fast, out and back course over Southbury streets and beautiful scenic country roads with gentle/rolling hills. 

We are excited to announce that 2020 is already off to an amazing start in Grand Boulage, Haiti! The medical clinic, in collaboration with Medicines for Humanity, continues to operate and February will mark the one year anniversary of its opening. The health education of the community has begun to make an impact, with over 300 visits in 2019 by community healthcare agents trained by the Medicines for Humanity team in Grand Boulage.  A healthier population is already a realized goal of this undertaking; which could not have happened without your support. Funds raised by this year's race will help sustain the clinic, provide the needed funds to pay the teachers in the village school, will purchase textbooks for all students; and continue to feed approximately 300 students daily through the school canteen program.
