Event Description

Let's kick the new school year off right! Get those jitters out with a fun 5k run/walk down the Rillito River Walk. The run will start at 8am at Brandi Fenton Park on August 3, 2019. The purpose of the event is to highlight local youth organizations which promote healthy youth development. Promotion of positive development in youth emphasizes building on youths’ strengths and providing supports and opportunities that will help them achieve goals and transition to adulthood in a productive, healthy manner. Research shows that programs that incorporate a positive youth development approach can contribute to a range of positive outcomes among all adolescents, prevent a variety of risk behaviors, result in robust and sustained impacts, and have the potential to reduce health disparities. A list of event participants will be released with information about who they are and why what they do is so important to our community. Registration for this run is $40 ahead of time and $50 day of. Online registration will include one (1) Legacy 5k Series Run/Walk shirt per paid ticket and goodie bag. Day of registration will receive a goodie bag and have the opportunity to buy left over shirts for $10. Before, During, and After the run, donate school supplies to local organizations, enjoy interactive children activities, explore local child and family resources, and munch on healthy treats.
