Event Description

Cycle Canalway is a bike ride that takes place on a the scenic Towpath Trail that travels through the Ohio & Erie Canalway National heritage area during the peak of summer. Hop aboard the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad while friendly train staff help load your bike on the train. Sit back and enjoy the scenery as you travel through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park and into the city of Akron. Choose the distance you are most comfortable with. Distances include anywhere from 5.25 to 27.50 miles. Once you unboard the train, bike on the Towpath Trail back to where you will meet at Carriage Pavilion in the historic town of Hale Farm & Village. We will enjoy a country BBQ and musical entertainment by Hey Mavis as they sing songs that tell the stories of the Ohio & Erie Canal era days. 
Participants begin there day by parking behind the Carriage Pavilion at Hale Farm & Village.     (Address: 2686 Oak Hill Rd, Bath, OH 44210) Please check in at the registration table to receive your souvenir Cycle Canalway t-shirt.  Wrist bands will be given to those who opted to board the train.  Participants  not boarding the train please start your ride at 9:30am.   Follow the signs and bike over to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad-Indigo Lake Train Depot. Volunteers and staff will provide assistance.  We also provide a sag rider along the route to assist with minor bike maintenance needs that may occur. Cycle Canalway participants can stay an enjoy a visit to Hale Farm & Village for an additional fee.  Hale Farm & Village is a living history museum of the Western Reserve Historical Society and is located on 90 acres in the Cuyahoga Valley with 32 historic structures, farm animals, heritage gardens, farming and early American craft and trade demonstrations including glassblowing, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, candle making, pottery, broom making and more!

8:30am-9:30am-REGISTRATION is at the Carriage Pavilion loacted in Hale Farm & Village at 2686 Oak Hill Rd, Bath, OH 44210)  Please pick up your souvenir t-shirt.  Wrist bands are available for those riding the train.  Partcipants not boarding the train please begin your ride at 9:30am.  Please arrive no later than 8:30am if you are renting a bike from Cleveland Bike Tours.  Call Joe at Cleveland Bike Tours to reserve a bike. T +1 (330) 532 - 8687 E info@ClevelandBikeTours.com   Please note there is less a one mile bike ride from the Hale Farm & Village parking lot to the Indigo Lake Train Depot.  There is a small up hill climb to the train depot and on the way back to lunch and entertainment at Carriage Pavilion.  Please allow for extra time. 

10:00am-Promptly board the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad at Indigo Lake train depot-you will need to wear your wrist band and friendly train staff will help you load your bike on the train.  

11:30am - 2:30pm-BBQ lunch and entertainment provided by "Hey Mavis" at Hale Farm & Village Carriage Pavilion.  Look for Cycle Canalway signage and helful staff  on the Towpath Trail directing you back to the Carriage Pavilion for lunch.  

This is a rain or shine event so please dress for the weather. The Towpath Trail surface through portions of Hale Farm & Village  and  the Cuyahoga Valley National park are crushed limestone.  Some sections are asphalt.  Riders must wear a helmut.
