Event Description
Join Focus on Greenwood, a local 501c3 non-profit organization, at our second annual Halloween-inspired Greenwood Run, Walk and Roll Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 9:00 AM, with sign in starting at 8:00 AM at The Edge (2 W. Center St.) in Greenwood, AR. Following the race, all awards, drawings, and winners will be announced inside The Edge. We will have refreshments and water pre and post race for everyone inside and outside of The Edge.
For this event, you can sign up to do a 1.5K WALK OR A 5K RUN OR A 10K ROLL (bring your own bicycle if you sign up for the 10K Roll).
Everyone is welcome to attend our event and Halloween attire will be admired but is not required. (But we will have prize money for costume contest winners in the following categories: best overall, most creative, best duo and cutest!!)
ALL early registrants will be guaranteed a t-shirt. October 1, 2019 is the deadline to register to be guaranteed a t-shirt. 5K RUN and 10K ROLL finishers will receive finisher medals. In addition to these, 5K RUN male and female age division winners will be recognized. The first place overall 5K RUN male and female winners will be given a special award. There will be candy and door prizes too! [At this time, only the 5K RUN will be chip-timed.]
Register online through runsignup.com or pickup registration packets at the following downtown Greenwood, AR businesses: Rowe Chiropractic and Acupuncture at 20 N Main Street or Van Der Watt Prosthetics and Orthotics at 11 N Main Street.
The goal of our event is to provide a new prosthetic for a deserving amputee who could not otherwise have one and to help our local non profit group Focus on Greenwood so that we can continue to help community members in need.
Pre-registered racers and metallic level sponsors are invited to a meet-and-greet dinner the night before the race at Bell Park Community Pavilion in Greenwood, AR where you will meet para-athletes and our prosthetic recipient! You will have a chance to hear some amazing stories from some amazing people! We will have food and drinks for everyone at no additional cost. It will be a lot of fun and very inspiring! This will also be our early race packet/t-shirt pickup.
Costume Contest: be sure to come into The Edge building prior to the race! We will have a team member take your photo and while everyone is out walking, running and rolling the costume contest judges will decide on the winners for cutest, best overall, most creative and best duo. The winners will be announced and presented with prize money during the awards ceremony post-race. This is open to all participants (Run, Walk & Roll).
Starting Line Up: The 10K ROLL will go first, then the 5K RUN, then the 1.5K WALK. This year, we will have team members up there at the starting line to help make sure the groups are together. The 10K ROLL group will line up on Waylon Parker Dr. right beside the Greenwood Police Department. The 5K RUN group will line up behind where it says "starting line" on the road on Old Hackett Road just up from the Greenwood Police Department. The 1.5K WALK group will gather in the Greenwood Police Department parking lot. Please make sure to be aware of Police and EMS vehicles and stay clear of them.
5K Age Brackets: 0-10, 11-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+
To stay up to date on race information, please be sure to follow us on facebook and periodically check out our page. The 5K RUN route will stay the same as the past year and you can find that route picture on our facebook now. We will be altering the WALK and ROLL routes and will post them to facebook as soon as they are set.
**RACE MORNING - SATURDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2019 - THE 5K RUN REGISTRATION PRICE INCREASES TO $35.00 AND THE 10K ROLL REGISTRATION PRICE INCREASES TO $25.00.
