Event Description

The Bats and Ghosts 5k Tour unveils a darker side of Austin that often goes overlooked. Austin was home to the first documented serial killer in America, and on this tour we will explore that theory along with dozens of other murders, suicides, and hauntings throughout the Downtown. We will also visit the largest bat colony in North America on the Congress Ave Bridge where we'll see a 1.5 million bat exodus for the night's hunt. Many of the sites and stories on this tour are morbid and macabre, so if you don't like being scared, this isn't for you!

Join us on a casual 5k running tour as we explore some of Austin's most famous haunted landmarks including the Driskill Hotel, the Governor's Mansion and, the Congress Avenue bridge, where we will witness the exodus of the largest bat colony in North America.

Tour begins at 730 PM!

1) Is tipping allowed? Yes. While tipping is in no way required - your smiles are their own reward - your guides certainly welcome it if you wish to show your appreciation through a tip.

2) Will you cancel in the case of bad weather? The weather would have to be really, really bad for us to cancel a tour. We run in all weather, and we love it. We might cancel if the ground were going to be so icy as to be dangerous. In that event, we notify runners ahead of time and reschedule them for a future date.

3) Is there a place to leave my things? No, our tours do not have coat checks. Your guides can carry small items for you if need be.

4) What happens if I am late? If you are the only person booked for the tour, your guide will wait 10 minutes past the scheduled start time if they've not heard from you. They will make reasonable accommodations if you call to tell them you're on your way. If others are also booked for the tour, we will start at the scheduled time if we have not heard from you. If you call your guide, they will delay the start no longer than 10 minutes, out of courtesy to the other participants. We strive to make sure that everyone has the best possible experience with us.

Cheers!
