TRANSITION AREA
The transition area is where the participants place their bikes, helmet, shoes, clothes, etc. in one area. Please plan ahead to come early so you can set up their gear prior to the start of the race. Parents can help participants if needed. Your athlete will return to their transition area after the swim and bike portion of the event.
SWIM
The swim will take place in the indoor pool. Lifeguards will be on duty throughout the race. Wetsuits are NOT allowed but kickboards will be available for use if needed. Each wave will have two swimmers per lane. There will be NO ACCESS TO SHOWERS.
Ages 7-8 will complete 40 yards of the small pool, age 9 will complete 50 yards in the lap pool and ages 10-12 will complete 100 yards in the lap pool, ages 13-15 will complete 150 yards in the lap pool.
Athletes will then exit the pool and WALK to the transition area to find their bike. We will break down the swim event into different waves per age group. Each wave will have a specific start time.
For 6 & Under Athletes:
Ages 4-6 will complete 20 yards of the small pool. Only one swimming parent will be allowed in the pool with participant. There will be volunteers to assist the swimmers. Limiting parent access is for the safety of the participants.
BIKE
The bike course will start in the back of the Sportsplex building. Athletes will exit the transition area onto the course designated for the bike portion.
Ages 4-6 will complete 6/10ths of a mile (1 loop), ages 7-9 will complete 2 miles (5 loops) ages 10-12 will complete 3 miles (8 loops) and ages 13-15 will complete 4 miles (10 loops). Athletes will complete the bike portion of the race by returning to the back of the building, where they will park their bike in the transition area.
Athletes must wear their helmets while walking their bikes through the transition area. Training wheels are allowed. Race numbers must be placed on the athlete's bike and on front of clothing.
Please do not wear the numbers in the pool. Please let your child(ren) know to slow down when they approach the turn-around point so the monitors can mark their wristband.
RUN
The run will start in the back of the Sportsplex building. Ages 4-6 will complete 1/2 mile (1 Loop), ages 7-9 will complete 1 mile (2 loops) ages 10-12 will complete 1.5 miles (3 loops) and ages 13-15 will complete 2 miles (4 loops)
Please let your child know to slow down when they approach the turn-around point so the monitors can mark their wristband.
