Event Description

From an 1860's mining camp to a bustling city with street cars and copper kings, the history of Butte is as wild and colorful as that of any western American city. Called the "Richest Hill on Earth" Butte was once the world's largest supplier of copper and has over 10,000 miles of tunnels running beneath the city. Miners came from around the world including countries like China, Serbia, Italy, England, and Ireland. Butte still has the largest number of Irish Catholics per capita. Irish traditions still dominate Butte's culture. Join us on August 8th to celebrate the history, the culture, and the Irish heritage of Butte, Montana.

The Butte "Tap 'er Light" 1/2 marathon will descend the "Richest Hill on Earth" while passing the cities most iconic landmarks. Mines, brothels, bars, and cool buildings!
